About Clann Family Care Ltd

Approach

My Approach I believe that people need a place where they can speak honestly and feel heard without being judged. My approach is warm, grounded and straightforward. Therapy does not have to begin with knowing exactly what is wrong or what you want to change. Sometimes it begins simply with having a conversation about what is happening in your life and taking the time to understand it. I bring my psychotherapy training together with many years of professional and life experience. I am comfortable having conversations about things that can be difficult to talk about, and I recognise that asking for support or speaking about personal experiences does not come easily to everyone. My role is not to tell you how to live your life. Instead, we can work together to understand your experiences, relationships and responses and consider what might help things feel different.

At Clann Family Care Ltd, we believe in a personalized approach to therapy. Every client is unique, and we strive to create an individualized plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.

At the heart of our practice is a belief in the importance of relationships and connection.

We believe that understanding ourselves within the context of our relationships can help us make sense of difficulties, recognise patterns that may have developed over time and discover different ways of relating to ourselves and to the people who matter to us.

Our approach is compassionate and curious. We are interested not only in the difficulty that brings someone to therapy, but also in the person or family as a whole, their relationships, experiences, strengths and hopes for the future.

Separation and Co-Parenting

I have a particular interest in supporting parents who are separated or separating, especially where communication or co-parenting has become difficult.

Separation can bring many emotions—loss, anger, hurt, uncertainty and worry about the future. At the same time, parents are trying to adjust to a changed relationship with one another while continuing to care for and make decisions about their children.

When there has been hurt or conflict within the couple relationship, finding a new way of communicating as parents can be particularly challenging.

I provide a space where parents can think about what is happening between them, understand some of the patterns that may be keeping conflict going and explore different ways of communicating and managing disagreements.

The aim is not to decide who is right or wrong. It is to help parents find ways of moving forward, reducing conflict where possible and keeping their children's needs and relationships at the centre of their co-parenting.

I can work with parents individually or, where appropriate, with both parents together.

Trauma, Addiction & Difficult Experiences

I also have a particular interest in working with people whose lives or relationships have been affected by trauma, addiction, anger or difficult life experiences.

Over many years, I have worked alongside people experiencing significant challenges, including many men who found it difficult to talk about vulnerability, relationships, loss, shame or emotional distress. This experience has given me an appreciation that distress can show itself in many different ways.

Sometimes we cope by withdrawing. Sometimes through alcohol, substances or other behaviours. At other times, distress can emerge as anger, conflict or difficulties within our closest relationships.

I believe it is possible to be curious about where these responses come from without judgement, while also thinking about how we would like things to be different. Therapy can offer a place to understand what has shaped us, recognise patterns that may no longer be helping and find different ways of responding to ourselves and to others.

Working Together

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. You may be dealing with something happening now, carrying experiences from much earlier in your life, struggling in a relationship or simply feeling stuck.

You do not need to have everything worked out before you come.

We can start with where you are.

My hope is to offer a warm, respectful and down-to-earth space where you feel able to talk openly, understand yourself and your relationships a little better, and consider what meaningful change might look like for you.
